Cajun Spice Mix

Being from the South (and right next to Louisiana), I’m a huge fan of Cajun food.  This mix is awesome on shrimp, chicken, in red beans and rice, or vehicles for dip like sour cream or mayo.

Ever do sand art as a kid?

3 t dried oregano

3 t dried thyme

3 t onion powder

3 (heaping) t cayenne pepper

6 t paprika

6 t garlic powder

2 t coarse salt

2 t black pepper


  1. Mix all ingredients in a jar.
  2. Put the lid on tight and save for when you want a quick Cajun meal!


  • I like it spicy, so if you’re more of a mild person, I would probably half the cayenne pepper.
  • I like to use ground sea salt for the coarse salt.
